This piece uses a rare board of meranti as a floating panel . Normally this wood has a rather bland figure, straight-grained and plain. However, the panel in the centre of this table shows a very clear interlocked figure rippling across its width, providing a very attractive contrast with the more normal figure of the frame, which has been finished with a dark stain to emphasise the feature.
The legs have been hand-shaped from solid meranti and taper from top to bottom, their cross-section changing from square to diamond as they do.
